Eight Clothing Care Tips
Men and women have their own ways when it comes to laundry. Women may tend to be more meticulous when it comes to doing laundry but men have the tendency to just dump everything into the machine and wash it. We have to keep in mind that some materials used to manufacture men's clothing may be either durable or fragile.
Caring for men's clothes does not only end there; of course, it includes storing. It is not all the time that we have to dress up as if we are going to a formal party so there are times when we have to store some of our wardrobe inside the closet. It is essential that we follow some storing tips in order to lengthen our clothes' lifespan.
1. Group your clothes. Before you dump your clothes into the machine group them according to color, style and probably according to their washing options. Grouping your clothes will save you from dealing with accidental staining due to colors fading on some shirts or shorts. With clothes grouped together, you will be able to adjust the machine accordingly.
2. When you stain your shirt or pants, do not wait for it to set in. You can rub a damp cloth over the stain or wash it immediately when you get home. Remember that when the stain has already set in, it would be very hard to remove and using stain removers can end up damaging your shirt rather than helping you remove the stain.
3. Iron and press your shirts. Ironed shirts look good on any man. Other than that, it also prevents creases and wrinkles from forming on the shirt. Dumping your shirts inside your closet is really not a good idea. You will surely wrinkle your shirt as well as stretch it unnecessarily and then, eventually ruin it.
4. Completely dry your clothes before you store it inside your closet. This is very important. Storing your clothes when they are moist will result to it smelling foul. Other than that, the moisture can also damage the fibers making these weak and easy to break.
5. If you hate having creases on your pants, it would be best if you hang them. Folding your pants would result to creases and some wrinkles on the folded area. Hanging will keep them wrinkle free and you won't have to worry about other clothes being placed on top of them.
6. Do not dump your socks inside the closet. Doing so will cause them to unnecessarily stretch as well as get lost in the sea of socks. Do not tie them; instead roll them together. Rolling them will keep the garters from being stretched.
7. When storing your tie, it would be best if you hang them on a tie rack or roll them and place them inside the jar. Remember that neckties are made from very fine materials so you will have to take good care of them after you use them.
8. Always follow the manufacturer's instruction printed on the tag. Some manufacturers have specific washing instructions for their products so if you are washing it for the first time might as well wash it according to what is instructed.
