Five Types Of Cuff Links
We rarely see men dressing up. They have this odd thought or belief that dressing to impress is only reserved for women. That is probably the reason why we often see guys wearing jeans and t-shirts most of the time. Most men prefer the casual look and in case you see some guy looking all so formal one probable reason is that it comes with his line of work.
For a man to look formal and sophisticated all he has to do is to don a crisp polo shirt, a tie, a pair of slacks and lastly a suit. Notice how the sleeves of the polo shirt seem to be longer compared to the suit? And on the wrist part you notice two button holes without the button. Well that very part is known as the link cuffs, cuffs, French cuffs or double cuffs. The cuffs are brought together with an accessory known as cuff links. The cuff links consist of the following parts: two faces one of which is readily visible and is usually engraved with various designs and the post which is located between the two faces and connecting both.
Cuff links are the kind of accessory that will surely separate the wearer from the crow. And like any other accessory these cuff links will serve as an embodiment of the wearer's personality. Cuff links come in various forms some of which are briefly discussed below.
1. Push through cuff links. This is the type of cuff links that posses a blunt, circular or round end. The rounded end is the part that is pushed through the double cuffs or down the button hole. Although simple and easy to use the downside of this type is the high risk of it falling off the cuffs.
2. Snap-on cuff links. As the name implies this type possesses two faces that snaps together. When using this type all the wearer has to do is to place the link onto the cuff and snap it. It's very simple to use but the possibility of it sliding off and damaging the cuffs is rather high.
3. Chain cuff links. Remember the part of the cuff links known as the post which is usually a round bar between the faces. Well on this type the round bar is replaced by a chain. The chain will then serve as the post. An additional accessory can also be hanged on to the chain.
4. Hinged Back Cuff Links. The post of this type of cuff link is rather unique because in line with the post is a swivelling bar. This bar is used to lock the cuff link into place after it passes through the button hole.
5. Double Faced Cuff Links. This type of cuff link is said to be the most formal among the various types. With the double faced cuff links the two faces are of similar sizes and are connected by a round metal bar known as the post.
Adding a pair of cuff links to your get up will surely boost your appearance. You may find cuff links rather sophisticated and hard to use but in reality using it is as easy as learning your alphabet. Accessories are not only for women but for men too.
