But you don't always need to wear a tie if you don't want to. However, there are occasions that will always call for a little bit of your formal side so make sure that you do have a few ties and suits in your closet. Here are some occasions that will most probably call for a tie almost every time.

• Jobs – Whether you are going to your first job interview or you are switching jobs between companies, it's always best that you look presentable. In other words, you have to look your very best if you want to stand a chance of landing the job that you want.

Make sure that you have a few power ties in your closet that will scream of confidence whenever you walk into an office. In fact, if you are the type who wants to wear a tie all the time at work, then it's all right to do so as long as it matches your wardrobe. More importantly, you should feel comfortable in it.

• Graduating – So you finally made it at the end of high school or college. For women, it's easy to find the right dress and put it on. For men, getting a tie may be easy. Tying it is a whole different story. However, you learn to tie a tie. Make sure that you do so for your graduation day especially if you are the valedictorian.

• Proms and Dances – Perhaps you haven't quite finished school yet and have found yourself in the dilemma of picking out what to wear to your junior or senior prom. Well, a tie will always do you good, whether it's a long neck tie or a bowtie. The important thing is that you do wear a tie to one of the most important nights in your life. You never know if you will meet the love of your life during your prom. Best be prepared and look the part too.

• Weddings – Speaking of finding the love of your life, you just may marry her as well. This is yet another occasion that will call for the use of a tie. Remember that you should have more than just one tie in your closet.

Every chance you get when shopping, look around at ties that may have designs that you like. A different tie per occasion is the best way to be prepared. That way, you won't look like you are always wearing the same thing at every wedding or party that you are invited to.

• Speeches – Got a speech at a university or presenting something to the boss? Then this is the time that you should have yourself some power ties. Power ties are those ties that represent your confidence as a person. A basic-colored tie is always the safest thing to wear. Just make sure that you are wearing one with a color that suits you the best.
